About the 2016 ACR Summit for Leaders:

Newly minted House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) has dubbed 2016 a “down payment” year for comprehensive tax reform. We are also in the midst of a Presidential campaign with numerous candidates offering various tax proposals that will affect charitable giving – not to mention a general election that could dramatically alter the congressional landscape. With so many tax issues still to be decided, nothing is completely on or off the table.

The charitable sector united in 2015 to urge lawmakers to make permanent three charitable provisions—the IRA charitable rollover, the deduction for conservation easements, and the enhanced deduction for gifts of food inventory—as well as to beat back a dangerous IRS proposal threatening donor privacy. The philanthropic community must continue to harness this strength in 2016. We hope you will join us at the 2016 ACR Summit for Leaders to learn about what we can do to protect private giving and educate lawmakers about the critical role of charitable organizations in a free society.

Organized by

ACR is a project of The Philanthropy Roundtable that educates legislators and policymakers about the central role of private giving in American life and thus the importance of protecting philanthropic freedom. Our mission is to promote the right of Americans to choose how and where to spend their charitable assets and to defend that right amidst legislative or political processes that weaken it.

ACR's primary objectives are 1.) to identify ways to preserve and expand America’s standing as the most generous and charitable nation by promoting the importance of voluntary, participatory, and active giving by donors; 2.) to safeguard the freedom of donors and private foundations to carry out their diverse charitable goals and missions, in order to preserve their distinctive contributions; and 3.) to promote common-sense laws and regulations which encourage charitable giving and impose strict penalties on violators.
